Ever the cautious runner/hiker/geocacher (http://www.geocaching.com/), my husband is constantly coming home from various treks in the woods, stripping out of his clothes so they can go straight in the wash, and hopping in the shower. And every time, I hear the same old story.

“I think I may have stepped in some poison ivy. Not positive, but just to be safe…”

This is especially maddening when he takes our 8 – year old daughter along with him on his jaunts into nature.

What I say? Make sure you know what poison ivy looks like and JUST STAY AWAY!

And the crazy thing is? They both do know what it looks like! “Leaves of three, let it be,” and all that. But yet, they continually come home with the threat of poison resin contaminating their skin.

Luckily, our daughter has not yet ever broken out in poison ivy rashes and blisters. My husband, though….Yep. He’s had at least 2 cases within the last 2 years.

So, what can you do to naturally ease the itch and discomfort of these nasty, oozing blisters? I just came across this great article on the web, listing 10 easy and effective natural home remedies for poison ivy: http://www.healthiertalk.com/10-natural-remedies-poison-ivy-4016 It’s full of some really great ideas to help make your healing time more bearable and pass by more quickly.

Happy summer, everyone! May your outdoor activities be fun, exciting, and completely itch-free!
